Tuesday, May 19th, will be an important election day for our community and our state.
The people we elect to serve in the Legislature make decisions that directly affect Idaho’s public schools. Our state laws, policies, and funding help shape the education of our children. Those decisions matter to our students, our employees, our families, and our communities.
Please take time to learn about the candidates in your legislative district. Read what they have said, review their voting records if they have served before, watch candidate forums, and carefully consider where they stand on issues that matter to you, including public education.
In addition to legislative races, voters in Bonneville Joint School District 93 will also see our supplemental levy on the ballot. Information about the levy, including the amount, term, estimated taxpayer cost, and intended uses, is available on our district website. I encourage you to review that information, ask questions if you have them, and participate in the election.
For those who would like to learn more before voting, several helpful resources are available:
VoteIdaho.gov provides official information about voter registration, polling places, sample ballots, and filed candidates.
Idaho Secretary of State Elections Division provides official statewide election information, including candidate filings, election results, campaign finance information, and legislative district resources.
Bonneville County Elections provides local election information, including polling locations, sample ballots, absentee voting information, and election dates.
VOTE411 Idaho is a nonpartisan voter resource from the League of Women Voters that may help voters learn more about candidates and races before Election Day.
Most importantly, please vote. Our system works best when informed citizens participate. Whether you vote early, absentee, or in person next Tuesday, I hope you’ll make your voice heard.
Family Engagement Survey
Reminder: Please Share Your Feedback with Us
If you haven’t already completed this year’s Parent Engagement Survey, we hope you’ll take a few minutes to share your feedback.
Your input helps us better understand what is working well, where we can improve, and what priorities should guide our work moving forward. This year’s survey includes questions about our school schedule, district and school performance, and our strategic planning priorities.
Thank you for being an important partner in your child’s education and for helping us continue to improve District 93 schools.
With the opening of a new school and updated attendance boundaries, the district has worked carefully to design a schedule that supports safe, efficient transportation and consistent school routines for students and families.
The updated schedule streamlines elementary start times into three groups, replacing a wider range of start times currently in place. This adjustment allows for improved bus routing and provides drivers with additional time between routes, helping ensure students arrive safely and on time despite increased traffic and growing enrollment.
Under the new schedule:
Elementary schools will begin with a 7:20 a.m. drop-off / 7:40 a.m. start time for the earliest group
Other elementary schools will follow in later groups throughout the morning
Secondary schools will see slightly adjusted end times, with most schools finishing around 4:00 p.m.
These changes were developed through collaboration with school leaders and transportation staff, with careful consideration given to instructional time requirements, traffic patterns, and the complexity of running multiple bus routes each day.
While adjustments like these can take time for families to adapt to, the goal remains clear: providing a safe, reliable, and efficient schedule that supports student learning across D93.
The full district schedule is included below for your reference.
Service, Spirit, and Leadership at Thunder Ridge High School.
Thunder Ridge High School Student Council students recently presented their annual report to the Board of Trustees, highlighting a year filled with leadership, service, fundraising, and school unity initiatives. Students shared favorite projects from each class, including movie nights, pizza parties, Easter egg hunts, teacher appreciation activities, campus clean-up efforts, and creative fundraisers that brought students together while supporting important causes.
One of the most meaningful projects discussed was the council’s “Adopt-a-Family” service effort, where students raised money, shopped for gifts and necessities, wrapped presents, and personally delivered items to families in need during the holiday season. This year, the program supported 25 families and created lasting memories for both students and recipients.
Students also reflected on the leadership skills they have gained through Student Council, including communication, teamwork, humility, relationship-building, and service to others. Advisors praised the students for their dedication, work ethic, and commitment to creating a positive culture at Thunder Ridge High School.
Expanding Opportunities: New High School Courses Approved for 2026–2027
Executive Director of Learning and Instruction Jason Lords presented new high school course approvals for the 2026–2027 school year to the Board of Trustees, highlighting the district’s continued commitment to expanding opportunities and engaging students in meaningful learning experiences.
The proposed additions reflect extensive collaboration between teachers, department leaders, and schools across the district. District leaders emphasized that many of the new courses are designed to spark student interest, strengthen career readiness, support graduation requirements, and provide students with more personalized pathways for success.
New course offerings include innovative classes such as Backyard Biology, Field Science, and Science in Film: Fact, Fiction & More, which give students hands-on and real-world learning opportunities in science. Students interested in business and technology will have access to courses like Digital Marketing, QuickBooks Accounting, Intro to Interactive Media, Web Design, and Graphic Design using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Additional electives such as History of Organized Crime, World Religions, The History of Toys and Games, Epic Eras – Adventures in History, and Latino Literature are designed to help students connect learning to their personal interests while expanding critical thinking and cultural understanding. Fine arts opportunities are also growing with courses including Advanced Painting, Guitar Ensemble, AP Music Theory, and expanded choir and art offerings.
District leaders noted that these diverse and creative course options not only help students discover new passions, but also help set Bonneville Joint School District 93 apart by offering engaging experiences that prepare students for college, careers, and life beyond graduation.

Fairview Elementary Celebrates New Playground with Ribbon Cutting
Some goals are worth celebrating in a big way… and when that goal is a brand-new playground, the excitement is absolutely contagious.
Fairview Elementary officially opened its new playground Wednesday morning with a ceremonial ribbon cutting, and the joy on the faces of students, staff, and families said it all. Principal Dahlke and members of the incredible Fairview PTO — who worked tirelessly to help make this dream a reality — were among the first to take a ride down the slides to celebrate the occasion.
A huge thank you goes out to the many community partners and donors who helped bring this project to life, including Bank of Commerce, Bateman Hall, Sandcreek Dental, the Cliveen and Claren Woolstenhulme Foundation, Mountain View Hospital, and so many others who generously supported Fairview students.
This project is a wonderful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to support kids and schools. #WeAreD93
Fifth Grade Bike Ride Tradition Rolls On Across D93
As a quick heads-up for our community, this year’s Fifth Grade Bike Ride is taking place this week and into next week!
A few adjustments were made this year to help make this long-standing D93 tradition as safe as possible. New parks have been added, routes have been modified, and additional safety measures have been put into place — but the fun, excitement, and unforgettable memories remain the same.
We want to give a huge thank you to our local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, school safety team, staff members, volunteers, and everyone else working together to help keep this incredible tradition rolling for our students.
We’re looking forward to another fantastic year filled with smiles, teamwork, and lifelong memories for our fifth graders.

Bonneville Joint School District 93 is proud to participate in the America250 in Idaho Service Challenge — an initiative inviting individuals, families, classrooms, businesses, faith groups, and entire communities to serve in ways big and small.
For this challenge, an “act of service” is defined simply as:
Any intentional action that provides a meaningful benefit to others.
Whether it takes five minutes or five hours — if it makes a difference, it counts.
At D93, we know service doesn’t have to be complicated. It can look like:
Donating used books or clothing
Helping take in a neighbor’s garbage bins
Picking up trash along a trail
Offering encouragement to a colleague
Supporting a student who needs a little extra care
Does it count? Yes.
As a district, we are committed to modeling kindness through action. When D93 students and staff serve others — in our schools, in our neighborhoods, and throughout our community — we strengthen not only those around us, but the culture of who we are.
Kindness becomes powerful when it turns into service.
Understanding Intensive Outpatient Mental Health Care
Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) offer structured mental health support while allowing individuals to continue their daily routines at home, work, or school. These programs can be a valuable option for those who need more support than traditional therapy but do not require inpatient care.
