March Cornerstone: Teamwork

North, South, East, West — Stronger Together

Teamwork is one of our cornerstones because strong teamwork helps our teachers and staff support students more effectively. One idea we recently shared with our employees is a simple way to think about the different strengths people bring to a team: North, South, East, and West.

People who lean North tend to focus on getting things done and moving forward. Those who lean South often focus on relationships and making sure people feel heard. East thinkers enjoy big ideas and new possibilities, while West thinkers focus on the details and the systems that make plans work. Strong teams usually include a mix of all four.

This can also be a fun conversation for families. As you talk together at home, you might ask which direction best describes each person in your family. Some people may like to move quickly and take action, others may focus on relationships, some may bring creative ideas, and others may enjoy planning and organizing. Recognizing those different strengths can help families, just like teams at school, work together more smoothly.

America250 Service Challenge

Neighbors Helping Neighbors the Idaho Way

Graphic promoting the 'Kindness in Action' Idaho Service Challenge for Bonneville Joint School District No. 93.
Bonneville Joint School District 93 is proud to participate in the America250 in Idaho Service Challenge — an initiative inviting individuals, families, classrooms, businesses, faith groups, and entire communities to serve in ways big and small.
For this challenge, an “act of service” is defined simply as:
Any intentional action that provides a meaningful benefit to others.
Whether it takes five minutes or five hours — if it makes a difference, it counts.
At D93, we know service doesn’t have to be complicated. It can look like:
  • Donating used books or clothing
  • Helping take in a neighbor’s garbage bins
  • Picking up trash along a trail
  • Offering encouragement to a colleague
  • Supporting a student who needs a little extra care
Does it count? Yes.
As a district, we are committed to modeling kindness through action. When D93 students and staff serve others — in our schools, in our neighborhoods, and throughout our community — we strengthen not only those around us, but the culture of who we are.
Kindness becomes powerful when it turns into service.
Neighbors helping neighbors: The Idaho way.
And here in D93, it’s the way we lead.

EIRMC Health Minute

Head Injury at Home: What Parents Should Know

A bump to the head doesn’t always mean a trip to the ER — many mild injuries can be treated at home with rest and close monitoring. However, seek emergency care right away if your child has repeated vomiting, worsening headache, confusion, slurred speech, seizures, weakness, or loses consciousness. Remember, concussion symptoms can appear hours or even days later, so keep a close eye on your child.

This helpful guide from Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center explains what to watch for and when to seek care.
