January Cornerstone: Learning and Literacy

A quote by Dr. Richard DuFour states, "The best way to improve student learning is to invest in the learning of the adults who serve them."

Investing in Professional Learning

As we near the halfway point of the school year, I want to thank you for your partnership and support, especially with our Monday schedule. That time is intentionally set aside so teachers can engage in collaborative professional learning, plan together, review student progress, and strengthen instruction. We know schedule adjustments can add complexity to family routines, and we truly appreciate your flexibility. Your support helps us invest in our teachers so they can better support your children every day.

Open Enrollment Applications Now Open

If you want your child to attend a school other than their zoned school, please submit an open enrollment application.
Applications received by February 1 will receive priority consideration, and we will use the number of applications received by that deadline to help determine staffing at each school. Because school boundaries are changing next year, any student in kindergarten through 6th grade who plans to attend a school other than their zoned school will need to submit an open enrollment application.

Kindergarten Open Enrollment Form is Open

We have also updated our form to allow for families to apply for open enrollment for students who will be coming into kindergarten next fall.

D93 Trivia

It seems like everyone is talking about the old Idaho Falls water tower being demolished right now, but did you know our own Lincoln Elementary predates that local icon by 32 years?

And Lincoln isn’t the only one! The building that currently houses Ammon Elementary opened its doors in 1936, just one year before the Idaho Falls water tower was erected.

A huge shoutout to our incredible maintenance team for keeping these historic buildings going strong, and to our community for supporting public schools for well over a century.

We Are D93 💙

EIRMC Health Minute

Cold, Flu & RSV: When to Watch a Fever ❄️🤒

During the winter months, spending more time indoors can lead to an increase in seasonal illnesses like the common cold, flu, and RSV. While symptoms can vary, monitoring fever is especially important, particularly for young children. Most mild fevers will resolve on their own, but high fevers or fevers accompanied by breathing difficulties, severe pain, dehydration, confusion, or seizures may require urgent medical care. Knowing when to call a doctor or visit the emergency room can help families respond quickly and appropriately.
